"Just Being a Kid”

Welcome to the Rocky Run YMCA 2008 Summer Camp! For more than 14 years the Rocky Run YMCA has been making summer exciting for children in our community.  YMCA Summer Camps focus on developing the whole child through programs that support children’s social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual development.  Enriching all of our programs are the principles of the YMCA Character Development: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

YMCA Summer Camp programs include field trips, swimming, sports and activities that help campers discover the importance of living a life full of fitness and nutrition.  Give your child the gift of summer memories by enrolling them in our distinguished programs.

General Overview
The Rocky Run YMCA provides a safe and fun camping experience for all children. All of our YMCA Camp Programs are located at the Rocky Run YMCA. The YMCA Camp staff has planned a diverse menu of one to two week-long sessions for children ages 4 to 18. Great care has been taken to recruit staff with enthusiasm, personal warmth, camping skills and commitment to YMCA Character Development. Our activities are designed to enrich each child’s physical and emotional growth through planned, organized, creative activities.

Our goal is to help your children grow while enjoying the setting of an outdoor camp. We offer arts & crafts, sports, games, nature, archery, low ropes, adventure, performing arts, swimming, field trips, cook-outs, special events, story telling, camp songs and many other activities. All activities are centered on a weekly theme. Please contact Mark Kalloz for any questions about Camp at extension 1234 or mkalloz@philaymca.org or Katie Duffus at extension 1210 or kduffus@philaymca.org.  Please visit us on the web at www.rockyrunymca.org to learn more about our camp, including daily camp schedules, etc.

Supervision 1:1
The Rocky Run Branch YMCA of Philadelphia & Vicinity is not able to provide 1:1 supervision for any child in our branch programs. If your child requires 1:1 supervision it will be the parent’s responsibility to inform the YMCA and provide that service for their child.

Age Placement
Campers will be placed in their camp groups based on their age at the time of registration by the parent. We do not guarantee changes or transfers of children based on a birthday that occurs during our Day Camp operational dates (June 16-August 29, 2008). Parents with children that have birthdays falling within our camp program weeks will need to contact the Camp Directors to inform them of this type of request. The Camp Directors will try to accommodate changes based on their discretion and the camper’s ability to adjust to the new camp age group.

ACA Accredited
We are proud to announce our accredited status in the American Camping Association. It is your assurance about the credentials of the summer camp you choose. To best promote high professional practices, ACA undertakes an exhaustive program of camp accreditation. This evaluation process assures our compliance with over 3,000 aspects of camp administration, particularly those related to program quality and the health and safety of campers and staff.
